- Recipe book compiled possibly in Philadelphia or Germantown Pa. (includes a clipping from the Germantown Telegraph). Includes many recipes for cakes, including railroad cake, poverty cake, Washington cake, poor man's cake, election cake, American cake, Number Five cake, and more; plus recipes for breads, pies, puddings, preserves, beer, wine, and a few for meat and fish; with a few medicinal recipes at the end of the volume. Recipes are attributed to many named individuals and to "Mother." Volume is inscribed "For My Mother. Jan 1, 1870."
