Summary:
Hammer discusses the origins of the Philadelphia Grand Opera Company, Stokowski's gradual involvement, the participation of Artur Rodzinski and Mary Louise Curtis Bok, meeting with Stokowski and Alban Berg in Salzburg and the American premiere of Berg's Wozzeck with Stokowski conducting, the production of Chavez's ballet HP, and Stokowski's efforts to educate the Philadelphia Orchestra audience.
