Summary:
Culinary recipes for cakes, puddings, pickles, jellies, soups, sauces, pickled herring, hams, mutton chops and other meats, biscuits including "Captain's biscuits" and "Brighton biscuits." Also includes recipes for fruit wines, cordials, and beer. A few recipes attributed to E. B. Gaskell, Hughes, Wakefield, Gundry, and others.
Notes:
Written in at least two hands in England.
Inscription and poem: "B. G. C[?]ursham from her affectionate mother, August 12, 1850" on final three leaves; final recipe dated March 1887.
Pagination: 1-49 in contemporary hand, upper outer corner. Leaves ruled with brown, rose, and blue ink; 94 leaves blank.
Binding: New half-leather.
