- Summary:
- Gould discusses his first meeting with Stokowski in the Frankfurt train station in 1957; the conversation he and Leonard Marcus had with Stokowski about the future of recording for High Fidelity; in great detail, his radio portrait of Stokowski and his music, which he created for the Canadian Broadcasting Company in 1970; and the experience of performing as a soloist under Stokowski, particularly in a recording of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto. He mentions Herbert von Karajan, Robert Chesterman, Leonard Bernstein, and Curtis Davis.
