Summary:
Leighton Rollins discusses the first concert he saw Stokowski conduct at Carnegie Hall; working with Stokowski on the Pacific Coast Music Festival in 1955, including problems with the budget, sound, and acoustics; Stokowski's plans (including a drawing given to the Lobero Theatre) to build an Auralium for the Festival; his interest in architecture and acoustics.
Rollins also mentions Ronald Colman, Nicky Goldsmith, Glenn Gould, Lotte Lehmann, Gordon Stafford, and Martha Graham performing for the Queen Mum at Covent Gardens.
Daniel's research notes include 1 item, a typed letter signed by Stokowski with Stokowski's sketch of auditorium on the reverse, 1 Aug. 1954; plus carbon copies and photocopies of correspondence among Rollins, Stokowski, and Oliver Daniel regarding the Pacific Coast Music Festival, 1954-1955; plus memos, programs, lists of repertoire, and clippings, in folders 348-357.
