- Summary:
- Schuman recalls discussing his Symphony no. 3 with Stokowski and his impression that Stokowski was interested only in color, not in structure. He remembers attending Stokowski's rehearsal of his Prayer in Time of War, and Stokowski's attention to the composer's ideas for performance; he discusses Stokowski's knowledge of acoustics; Stokowski's letters to Schuman; his great contributions to twentieth-century music; mentions the Contemporary Music Society, and compares Koussevitzky and Stokowski.
