Joseph J. Mickley built and repaired pianos and repaired stringed instruments in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also published monographs on and collected books and documents related to early American history.
Summary:
A daily account beginning 1 January 1840 and ending 31 May 1848 of services rendered and amounts paid by customers needing piano tuning and repair; repairs, parts, or tunings for stringed instruments; music lessons; and miscellaneous items and services. Among the hundreds of customers are the Biddles, William Fry, R. La Roche, and the Wetherills.
