Comprises culinary recipes for puddings, cakes, shellfish, meats, sauces, pickles, preserves, wine, and beverages; with 3 pages of directions for crochet patterns; the book was also used by children to practice penmenship and arithmetic. Includes a few household and medicinal recipes.
Notes:
Ownership inscription inside front endleaf: Lizzie [Lezzie?] Sandys. Date 1882 is on a recipe midway in the volume, some recipes may be earlier and later in date.
Written in several hands in England, place names Islesworth and Nottingham are in the volume.
On final endleaf are two lists of clothing and the name Charlotte Smith.
No pagination.
Binding: contemporary boards, rebacked.
