Summary:
This critical study of John Burton's work outlines an alternative framework for the study of international conflict. While illuminating the problems of conflict and conflict resolution from a social constructionist angle, Tarja Vayrynen also argues that culture has a fundamental role. Vayrynen argues that culture offers a grammar for acting in and reinterpreting the world, and provides understandings of conflict and its resolution.
