- Chancery octavo. Leaf a3r: 34 lines, plus headline; area of text: 109 (117) x 70 mm. Initial spaces, most with guide letters; spaces for paragraph marks. With foliation and signatures; without catchwords.
- Signatures: a-y⁸ chi-2chi⁸.
- Leaves y8 and 2chi8 are blanks.
- Numerous errors in foliation. Cf. Walsh.
- Many copies of this edition contain a mixture of sheets from Goff A-1055 and Goff A-1056. The latter is without foliation throughout; its colophon reads: "Impensis Michaelis wensler In vrbe Basileorum diligentissime elaboratu[m] finitu[m] est foeliciter Anno christianissimi partus. post Millesimu[m] quaterq[ue] centensimum nonagesimo primo Kalendis Aprilibus." Also in Goff A-1056, the second line of leaf chi1 ends: "o[l]im capi".

Rubrication: initials and paragraph marks supplied in red; capital strokes supplied in yellow. Modern ms. bibliographic notes in pencil on front free endpaper; early ms. inscription ("Jesus Maria Joseph"), pen tests and sketch on front free endpaper; ms. inscription in Latin on leaf y8v; a few early ms. marginal notes in text. Purchased for the Penn Libraries in 1959. Two Latin ms. ownership inscriptions of Brother Marcel Belhomme of a convent in Séez: 1 on title leaf dated 1613 and 1 on leaf 2chi7v dated 1608 above Latin verses in the same hand. Binding: full vellum with boards double-ruled in blind; ms. title and date on spine; portions of 2 early printed Latin leaves used as pastedowns (front pastedown contains text which invokes St. Catherine of Alexandria; back pastedown contains part of Ps. 49 and ms. inscription on folded verso[?]); portion of early vellum Latin ms. in 2 columns in black ink (with underlines and manicule in brown ink in another hand) used as binder's waste; evidence of ties. Lower portion of title leaf excised and the remainder pasted at inner margin to a blank leaf; the blank leaf has several early ms. notes and 2 ms. sketches of faces on recto and early ms. inscription on verso. Leaves cropped at all margins with occasional damage to rubricated initials and ms. marginalia.
