- Salomon Hirzel published three catalogs of his Goethe collection; the first, "Verzeichniss einer Goethe-Bibliothek", anonymously in 1848; the second, "Neues Verzeichniss einer Goethe-Bibliothek", in 1862; the third, "Neuestes Verzeichniss (1767-1874)" in 1874. A fourth catalogue "Salomon Hirzels Verzeichniss mit Nachträgen und Fortsetzung herausgegeben von Ludwig Hirzel", was published in 1884.
