Summary:
The philosophy of symbiosis is already part of many advanced theories of physics, biology, biochemistry, electronics, economy, politics, science, philosophy, art, and literature. Over the last four decades, Kisho Kurokawa has attempted to challenge the homogenized designs of the Machine Age and explore the concept of symbiotic architecture, which is an architecture of regionalism, open to dialogue with the rest of the world. This volume presents 23 of his most important projects, including the new wing of the Van Gogh Museum and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal Complex, which express this concept through their forms, styles, and materials.
