Summary:
This new millennial edition of the successful calendars book expands the treatment of the previous edition to new calendar variants. The authors frame the calendars of the world in a completely algorithmic form and describe fourteen calendars and how they relate to one another: the present Gregorian, the recent ISO commercial, the Julian, the Coptic and Ethiopic, the Islamic, the Baha'i, the Hebrew, the Mayan, the French Revolutionary, the Chinese, and both the old and new Hindu calendars. Easy conversion among these calendars is a by-product of the approach, as is the determination of secular and religious holidays. The text makes accurate calendrical algorithms readily available for computer use with LISP and Java code for all the algorithms included on the accompanying CD-ROM, and updates available on the Web.
Notes:
CD-ROM disc contains Lisp code, Java, and Mathematica implementions of calendar functions as well as other information.
Includes bibliographical references and index.
