- Summary:
- This selection of papers is the result of a multidisciplinary and international effort aimed at mapping the transition process of communication today. The recurring theme of these essays is the relationship between the chances of democracy and a changing communication culture. Issues addressed include the democratic potentials of the Internet, the effects of commercial media on political communication, issue framing, and the gullibility of the electorate. In a majority of the essays, theory is supported with empirical data. Special attention is given to the changes in East- Central Europe. Distributed by ISBS. c. Book News Inc.
