Thomas Kinsella is universally recognized as one of Ireland's foremost poets, yet his mature work has not received the attention it deserves. His early writing received wide acclaim - Another September, for which he received the Guinness Poetry award, established Kinsella as 'the most distinguished younger poet writing in Ireland'. In the early 1970s Kinsella decided to found his own press, the Peppercanister Press, from which all of his subsequent work has been issued.
