Summary:
Also called: Original cohort databases. Includes data from a longitudinal study of four groups of men and women initially interviewed in the mid to late 1960's: Mature Men (45-59 years old in 1966); Mature Women (30-44 in 1967); Young Men (14 to 24 in 1966); Young Women (14 to 24 in 1968). Originial Young Men study ceased in early 1980's; other studies are ongoing. Data includes cohort information about work experience, military experience, training, schooling, family background, marital status, income and assets, health, fertility, child care, discrimination, household responsibilities, volunteer activities, health insurance, and retirement plans and experience. The original study comprised 20,487 respondents selected and interviewed by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. Subsequent ongoing study, National longitudinal survey of youth, contains data about children of above respondents.
