Summary:
Growing from the editor's experience in teaching graduate courses on the Liturgical Year, this ecumenical collection of essays surveys the development and theology of the Liturgical Year in the order of the calendar's historical evolution.
Scholarship on the evolution and interpretation of the Liturgical Year has changed significantly in the past twenty years, and many of those who have written here are responsible for that change. While it is a supplement to standard works in the field, especially for graduate students in liturgy and seminarians, this book is also for pastors, catechists, and others who seek to live according to the Church's theology of time as it is reflected in its calendar of feasts and seasons.
