The author of those memoirs, i.e. the 'Secret memoirs of .. the New Atalantis' = Delariviere Manley.
Letters 1-24 were previously published as 'The lady's pacquet of letters', together with the English translation of Madame d'Aulnoy's 'Mémoires de la cour d'Angleterre'. Letters 25-40 appeared with the English translation of Marie d'Aulnoy's 'Le comte de Warwick', entitled "The history of the Earl of Warwick .. To which is added, the remaining part of the unknown lady's pacquet of letters". Letter 41 was never before published.

Text is continuous despite the eccentric pagination.
