Summary:
In May and July of 1998, Ingo Giezendanner traveled along the Pacific Coast, making India ink drawings in Seattle and San Francisco of store-window displays, rows of Victorian houses, typical American products, bathroom grafitti, streetsigns, as well as scenes from cartoons and television shows. The charm of these pop-influenced, animation-style drawings lies in their narrative poetry. His book of drawings, published here in a facsimile edition, can be seen as a detailed storyboard layout for a classic West Coast road movie, complete with beer bottles in brown bags, laundromats, barbershops, and movie theater marquees. Ingo Giezendanner, born in 1975, lives and works in Zurich. In addition to publishing his own comic books, Giezendanner has shown his drawings in several group exhibitions.
