Summary:
This volume offers a comprehensive and insightful analysis of research findings, controversial issues, and assessment advancements regarding intelligence testing and racial/ethnic minority children and youth. Intelligence Testing and Minority Students begins with discussions of historical issues and multicultural perspectives of intelligence. The text then examines four factors (e.g., socioeconomic status; home environment; test bias; heredity) that have been advanced to explain the persistent difference in mean intellectual performance between minority and White groups. Finally, this book focuses on issues germane to the intellectual assessment of minority students (e.g., identification of gifted minority students; striving for nondiscriminatory assessments).
