- Summary:
- Sutton is pleased to bring The History of the Bronte family back into print. Originally published under the title The Road to Haworth (Viking 1981) this book traces the Bronte's Irish ancestry from around 1710 to 1820, when the Reverend Patrick Bronte brought his gifted family to England. It points out certain themes and stories that could only have come from a profound knowledge of their Irish roots, as related to them by their father Patrick and their grandfather, Hugh Brunty, himself known for his storytelling. Patrick cherished his literary ambitions, which he clearly passed on to his daughters Charlotte, Emily and Anne. The Bronte family story is every bit as fascinating as the stories in the classic novels written by the Bronte sisters.
