- Summary:
- In Craft Andrew Davis presents the dual focus of his artistic career: poetry and woodworking. Craft is a partly autobiographical poem comprised of linked sonnets in which Davis meditates on the why and how of his becoming a fine woodworker. From his background in religious language, he conceives of logos, the Word, as something physical and manifest, and embodies that Word on the page and in the wood. Craft is a powerful, thoughtful poem of conversion: word into thing, thing into word, writing into woodworking.
