Summary:
Working alongside the architects in their key role, specialist subcontractors joined forces to form an integrated designer team, and to produce this award-winning structure. By carefully balancing organizational and energy-related requirements, both sections of the building -- the computer center and the office areas -- benefit from the best of modern technology. Heat generated in the building is used in winter to increase the temperature in the office areas and in the atrium between the two sections, while in summer, this energy is used to keep the work environment cool. a Digital regulating system is fitted throughout the entire building ensuring flexibility to changing environmental conditions, and the facades have been designed as informative filters with climatic membrane. The complex's conference center is flooded in different shades of light which change during the course of an evening: an installation designed by the artist James Turrell. The many illustrations, plans, details and copies of original material included in this volume provide an accidentally sound and st the same time highly accessible description of this truly outstanding building.
