Summary:
May 1999 marked the official opening of Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa's extension to Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum. This book uses photographs by Jannes Linders to provide an extensive documentation of Kurokawa's addition to Rietveld, Van Dillen & Van Tricht's museum. Also detailed is the meticulous renovation of the existing building by Martien Van Goor, of Greiner and Van Goor. In an introductory essay, Hans Ibelings analyzes the design of the museum and its extension, and considers this undertaking, the first by Kurokawa in the Netherlands, within the context of recent major Dutch architecture projects.
