- Summary:
- Anise Koltz was born in Luxemburg in 1928. She is a founding member and Vice-President of the European Academy of Poetry. Her early work was written in German, but after the death of her husband, a late victim of the Nazi occupation, she found herself incapable of writing in German again. Following a period of silence Koltz returned to writing, this time in French. Her poetry is intensely lyrical but with a purity and immediacy that makes hers a voice unique in European poetry. Aux Banquets du Diable/At the Devil's Banquets offers a fine introduction to this acclaimed poet's work.
