Summary:
Memoirs of Childhood: An Approach to Jewish Philosophy consists of recollections of the author's childhood in Jerusalem. Peripherally, Adlerblum provides her later adventures in Constantinople and Hoboken, as well as the story of her grandmother's experiences in Lithuania, leading up to her aliya to Safed and Jerusalem.
The stories and facts portrayed recount many pivotal events of the era. The text also contains background information relating to comparative theology and philosophy of religion. Educational psychology as well as historical material on the development of Jewish education is also embedded in the narrative. The reactions of traditional Jewry to modern challenges are amply dealt with; Jewish educators will be able to adapt sections of the work directly for lessons and assigned readings.
This tale is a religious and spiritual odyssey of a young girl who delves into the rich traditions of her own people and exerts influence upon the modern world.
