Summary:
In this, his second book, author Byron Stuhlman traces the development of the theological and liturgical ideals which have shaped the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the Episcopal Church. After a survey of the English tradition, he uses the first American Prayer Book as a starting point, carefully and thoughtfully following the development of the Rite in this country through the 1979 Prayer Book. Current developments and the unfinished agenda bring the reader to the present.
