- Summary:
- One of the most important policy questions we face concerns the health effects on humans of environmental chemicals. The author debunks the conventional wisdom that animal studies measuring chemical exposure can be used to evaluate the actual danger to people. He argues that exposure to various chemicals such as radon and food pesticides should be decided by the individual consumer rather than by government regulation. Even those chemical exposures that are public, such as air pollution, could be governed by markets and common law rather than government regulation.
