- Summary:
- Legal Queeries explores the rich diversity of issues that must be considered if the law is to be taken seriously as a social practice through which the lives of lesbians, gay men and transgendered persons are to be represented in society. It also departs from the traditional reformist agenda in its willingness to address matters -- such as sexuality and childhood -- that continue to be taboo.
- The editors have brought together for the first time a diverse collection of legal scholars and practitioners whose work explores the richness and complexity of the interface between perversity and legal regulation. In looking to continental European jurisdictions and the experience of various legal systems in the southern hemisphere, the book opens the Anglo-American tradition of much lesbian, gay and transgender scholarship to new perspectives and new horizons that can only enrich our appreciation of domestic legal cultures.
