Copies of diplomatic correspondence and other documents from Giovanni Battista Castagna (Archbishop of Rossano, later Pope Urban VII), to Cardinal Borromeo, to Cardinal Reomano, to Cardinal Alessandrino (Michele Bonelli), to Cardinal Rusticucci, to Monsignore Biglia (nuntio all'Imperatore) to and from King Philip II of Spain and a number of others, in chronological order dated September 1565-January 1569 (v. 1) and January 1569-September 1572 (v. 2), mostly from Madrid.

Foliation: V.1: Paper, i (contemporary paper) + 386; [v], 1-380, [i]; V. 2: Paper, 420; [iv], 1-416; contemporary foliation in ink, upper right recto
Script: Written in a cursive script by one hand.
Binding: Contemporary vellum, with complete title written on the spine of both volumes. Moderate to heavy oxidation of ink in sections of both volumes.
Origin: Written in Italy in the late 16th century.
