Summary:
Mostly recipes for cooking, many of them quite detailed, with a few medicinal recipes, a few housekeeping recipes, and some instructions for cultivation of roses and strawberries. There are recipes for many different curries. Recipes are attributed to places, Alverley Grange, Wanliss Hall, Coton Hall; and to named individuals, Charles Woodcock, Adam Moore, Lady Palmer, Lady Cavan, Lady Teresa Dease, Mrs. Carey, Mrs. Hobhouse, Miss Webb, Giovanni Onorati, Mrs. Bonucci, Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Holford, Mrs. Powys, Mrs. Lascomb of Dawlish, Mrs. Roland Maltby, Richard Jebb, among others. Also includes an alphabetical index (f.1r-2v, 33v-36r). There are 17 leaves laid in, some recipes, some clippings, including advertisement for Semper Viva, or Rose of Jericho; additional clippings tipped in.

Foliation: Paper, 78; [1-78]; modern foliation in pencil, upper right recto. Irregular contemporary pagination in ink, upper outer corners. References in this record are to modern foliation.
Script: Written in a cursive script predominantly in one hand, including some later leaves sewn into volume, with some additions in later hands.
Binding: Chamois sewn over original cover or pasteboards.
Origin: Written in England, from the second half of the 18th century, leaves sewn in at front dated 1827, leaf laid in dated 1869, other clippings laid in dated 1918 and later.
