- Biography/History:
- According to his statement here, Richard G. Abbott was born in Heidelberg, Germany on 22 October 1881 of an English father and German mother. He studied piano from an early age, studied chemistry at the university at Leipzig, studied music at Berlin, and later went to Munich to study organ, he was imprisoned when war broke out in 1914, and composed during his four years of imprisonment. He took over his father's business (Emery Mines) in Smyrna after the war, and began composing again in 1930.

Kirkwood to Abbott (28 October 1931) and from Abbott to Mrs. Reed (3 December 1935); an unidentified poem in French; a biographical statement from Richard G. Abbott; and an inscribed copy of Kenneth P. Kirkwood's In Gardens of Proserpine, signed by the author, Christmas, 1930, also inscribed to Marian Anderson from Rosalind M. Reed.
