- Summary:
- Ann Zell was one of the poets included in the Word of Mouth collection recently published in Northern Ireland. Her own collection celebrates old friends and tough women, and explores the complexities of family relations. The poems range back and forth between times and places, childhood and middle age, Idaho (she was born on a potato farm in a large Mormon family) and Ireland. The attachment is to particular people, particular landscapes. Weathering relates to resistance, fighting back, holding on, living through -- natural things and people continuing to exist.
