Tactica by Aelianus incorrectly attributed to Claudius Aelianus.
The Leonis Imp. Tactica, here translated by Johannes Checus, was compiled by Leo VI, the Wise. Cf. Oxford dict. of Byzantium. Sandys incorrectly ascribes authorship to Leo III, the Isaurian. Cf. Sandys, J. E. A history of classical scholarship, third ed., v. 1, p. 405. This work is sometimes confused with the Sylloge tacticorum, a later compilation.
Colophon reads: Excudebat Ioannes Balduini, impensis Ludouici ElzevirI, Lugduni Batauorum XII Mart. Anno MDCXII.
Both works entitled Tactica also issued separately the same year by Louis Elzevier.
