- Summary:
- The drive to complete the Single European Market (SEM) by 1992 was a key episode in the history of European integration, raising fundamental issues concerning the governance of the European economy. This new book analyzes the SEM from its origins through to the present and explores its political and legal dynamics. A broad definition of the SEM is adopted by the authors to give an understanding of the encompassing nature of the program. Six case studies offer specific insights into the transformation of national and European Union regulatory structures. The book develops of "new institutional" analysis. It brings into focus the organizational, procedural and normative dimensions of the governance of the SEM.
