- Scholars have long assumed in the case of the conflicting accounts of the Pelopennesian War and Hellanikos, whose earlier account is now lost, Thucydides' version of events was correct. However in this challenging and clearly written study, Schreiner argues the contrary-that Hellanikos's chronology of events was correct, and by restoring them a reliable chronology of the period can be established.
