Summary:
Jilly is forty-something, widowed and the mother of Chloe, a college student. On the day that Jilly's father, an Episcopal bishop, dies of cancer in Connecticut, Chloe reveals that she is pregnant. As Jilly says, 'Where is Oprah when you need her?'. But Jilly is a fighter, and Bishop's daughter or not, she's not averse to a few pithy one-liners the Lord may otherwise rather not hear. As Jilly battles with the new incumbent Bishop (His Purpleness), her mother-in-law Eleanor, who feels the time has come to tell her how much she doesn't rate her, her good and sexy lover Elliot, with his eavesdropping young son, and her own dearly loved daughter Chloe, the days are conversely full yet very much not her own. Natural crises of life and death seem as good a time as any to take stock, and Jilly, for once, is determined to put herself first.
