- East's terrain is a South that in the age of TV soap operas and radio call-in shows is no longer easily distinguished from the rest of the country. In "The Girl Who Made It with Kennedy" a man finds himself unable to shake his memories of the girl or his flashbacks to Dealey Plaza. In another of the stories a son remembers a summer in flight with his father, the "Brain Surgeon" of the title, a man who knew next to nothing about the human heart - "didn't know the territory".
