System requirements for accompanying computer disc: Any Macintosh, Unix, DOS, or Windows system may be used. Mapping tables and most data files are plain ASCH test files. Sample text files with the extension UNI require a Unicode plain text editor. Files with the extension DOS are Microsoft Word 6.0 files. Sample programs require a C compiler to compile and run.
Summary:
Unicode is a standard for electronically encoding characters using only two bytes of information. Use of this standard allows for a unique representation of the characters of all languages and dialects--worldwide. Anyone designing or developing a software product for worldwide use needs this book. The CD provides the electronic files to be used by implementers.
