- Presentation inscription on the inside of the front board from William Herndon to Charles H. Hart of Philadelphia. Herndon notes that Lincoln gave him the book in February 1861. Also included is a ms. letter from Herndon to Hart enclosing the book sent February 13, 1866.
- On rear endpapers and board are the bookplates of Gordon Block, Charles Hart, and John Gribbel of St. Austen Hall. A note on the rear board records: "Feb 1914 From Lincoln collection of Maj. William H. Lambert Phila."
