- Summary:
- Edbury (medieval history, Cardiff U., Wales) presents 38 papers from a September 2009 conference on the history of European military orders of the Middle Ages held under the joint auspices of the Cardiff Centre for the Crusades together with the London Centre for the Study of the Crusades, the Military Religious Orders and the Latin East. The papers assemble archaeological, art, architectural, and historical evidence in order to investigate the Order of the Hospital of St. John (examined by 17 of the papers), the Iberian orders (discussed by seven of the papers), and the Order of the Knights Templar (discussed by five, although two of those are less about the history of the Knights Templar and more about contemporary representations of the order).
