- Summary:
- Tropical Animal Health is an integrated presentation of animal diseases in the tropical environment. The book consists of three parts. Part I presents the basic scientific facts of host defence mechanism and the host-pathogen relationship in the tropics. Part II principally contains information about the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical and pathological features, as well as about the diagnosis, treatment and control of infectious animal diseases. The particular ecological, technical and socio-economic factors which may favour or hinder the disease control are described in Part III. The English edition of the book is a complete and (where necessary) up-dated edition of the first German edition. Part II, in particular, incorporates new data on etiology and disease control. The latest developments in the taxonomy of causal organisms of diseases have also been included. Audience: This is a comprehensive book for all professionals working in the field of veterinary medicine and animal production in the tropics.
