- Summary:
- An elderly Native American mystic arrives in the canyonlands of Utah, bringing a young man a mysterious message from his Mexican grandmother in East Los Angeles. The Pink Rosary is the story of Beto, abandoned son of an Anglo mother and Latino father. Raised by his grandmother, Beto has steadfastly refused to make commitments in his life and work, or to choose between his dual worlds. He is torn between the Latino culture he loves and the Anglo culture that his grandmother embraces. The message, whether tangible or psychic, forces Beto to confront his indecision, but the novel provides no simple solutions.
