Summary:
Presents two elements of the research design for on-going work by the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods, begun in 1990, with a few preliminary results. Videotapes, observer logs, interviews, and surveys of documentation generate overviews of neighborhoods and potentials for crime given contexts of formal and informal social control, economic stability and other factors. Cohorts inventoried at three-year intervals.
