When first published in 1971, Canto y Grito mi Liberacion established Ricardo Sanchez as one of the leading voices in the Chicano poetry movement. Included in the WSU Press edition are poems and prose pieces written by Sanchez from 1990 to 1995 while he was a professor at Washington State University, and before his death from cancer in 1995 in El Paso, Texas.
