According to an inscription of H.H. Furness on the flyleaf of pt. 1 of copy 2, the marginal and interleaved notes are in the hand of John Holt, who proposed, but did not complete, an edition of Shakespeare in the 1750's. There is a defense of the authenticity of Timon of Athens and extensive notes on that play.
