- Penn Provenance:
- Purchased for the Penn Libraries in 1951 from William H. Allen, Bookseller.
- With two autographs in pencil, one ("Chas E Warburton March 1841") on front pastedown, the other ("Chas E Warburton March 12 1841") on front free endpaper. Possibly to be identified with Charles E. Warburton (1837-1896), founder of the Philadelphia Evening Telegraph, since the handwriting is similar to other instances of his signature, but the date is problematic. (The year appears to have been corrected to "1841" on the front pastedown, but the original date is illegible.)
- Warburton, Charles E. (autograph) (Furness copy)
- Kurt Gaebel & Sons (Holland, Pa.) (stamp) (Furness copy)

- Two hundred nine 19th-century playbills from the Chestnut Street Theatre (Chestnut Street near 6th Street) and Walnut Street Theatre (825 Walnut Street) of Philadelphia, Pa., bound together in one volume. One hundred seventeen, dated between 17 October 1831 and 19 April 1832, advertise the productions of the Chestnut Street Theatre. The remaining 92 advertise those of the Walnut Street Theatre: one dated 2 October 1827 (under the name "Philadelphia Theatre") and 91 dated between 30 August 1831 and 25 February 1832. All but one (Walnut Theatre, 21 January 1832) are printed as broadsides. Two (Walnut Street Theatre, 21 January 1832, and Chestnut Street Theatre, 30 January 1832) are illustrated. Most are ca. 15 cm. wide and range from 33-68 cm. long (many folded).
