- Summary:
- This 15th-century French poem in a lavishly illuminated late medieval manuscript is the only Dance of Death devoted entirely to women. Each of the 36 women depicted is the focus of two short poems written in exchange form (Death calls and the victim replies) accompanied by an illumination (or miniature). Included are reproductions of the manuscript folios -- five in full-color -- and a transliteration and translation of the text into English.
