- Attributed to Antonio Mira de Amescua in the 1792 printed edition.
- Foliation: Paper, 70; [1-70]; modern foliation in pencil, upper right recto.
- Script: Written in a cursive script by what appears to be more than one hand. Various signatures, pen trials, and notes in additional hands, including several lines of Catalan (inside upper pastedown).
- Binding: Contemporary boards, with remains of leather ties. Manuscript cover inscription: Comedia. El mas feliz cautive[r?]o y los sueños de Josef. Dia, 24. de Agosto, de M. VCCCXII [sic]. Cover worn and stained. Many leaves stained. Last two leaves very loose.
- Origin: Written in Spain, probably in the 18th century. Date on cover, 24 August 1812, probably refers to the date of a performance.
