After Risk retired in August, 1851, his partner, Micajah Tarver, continued the magazine ... The file is valuable for articles on early railroad projects and for material on the development of the upper Mississippi Valley. A few steel plates and woodcuts and several lithographs serve for illustration. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
